Wings Of a Hero and Legacy Awards

Because Stephen became an orphan at the age of 10 and later became a loving father of five, the well-being of children is close to Genesis USA’s heart. We are dedicated to creating a positive and lasting impact in the lives of children. Every child deserves a loving home, an education, and a promising future. Since the establishment, we have assisted local children in need who have been orphaned or have lost a parent.

LEGACY OF LOVE AND WINGS OF A HERO AWARDS

Ever since Genesis USA was established, numerous orphaned children or those who have lost one parent have received essential funding for education, counseling, and other necessities. The Legacy of Love initiative has funded families to address urgent emergency needs. So far, a total of $750,000 has been granted to beneficiaries through these initiatives.

Disaster Relief

Support Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts

Genesis USA is extending disaster relief for Hurricane Ian, similar to our support during Hurricane Sandy and the tornado that struck Mayfield, Kentucky, in December 2021. We are collaborating with local partners to assess and distribute aid. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.

Help for America’s Heartland

Families impacted by the devastating tornadoes in early December 2021 received assistance from Genesis USA, including food, help with mortgage payments, and holiday toys. The Storm Relief Response Unit has been consistently sent to support regions affected by natural disasters.

COVID-19 Heroes Fund

During the SARS-COVID-19 pandemic, Genesis USA cleared the mortgages of families with young children whose First Responder parents succumbed to COVID-19 and also committed $3 million to aid healthcare workers through meal provision and the supply of personal protective equipment.

Superstorm Sandy Relief

Following the impact of superstorm Hurricane Sandy, numerous individuals found themselves without housing, particularly in New York. Genesis USA offered aid to those affected by the storm by providing financial assistance for mortgage payments and covering the expenses of hurricane-induced damages. Our team members also actively engaged in outreach efforts within the Staten Island community, where Genesis USA is located, to provide support to residents impacted by the storm.

Haitian Orphanage Relief

Genesis USA is dedicated to making a long-term difference in the lives of children. When FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller lost his parents at the age of 10, he was raised by his older siblings. At Genesis USA, we hold the well-being of children close to our hearts, and it is central to our mission as we support families with young children who have lost a loved one. We are firm believers that every child should have access to a nurturing home, education, and a bright future. Since the establishment, we have provided assistance to children in local communities and Haiti who have either lost a parent or been orphaned.

Hurricane Harvey Holiday Toy Drive

Hurricane Harvey had a devastating impact on Texas and Louisiana, leaving numerous residents without homes and resulting in many deaths. Approximately 18,000 families were forced to leave their homes as a result of the storm. In a bid to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey, Genesis USA partnered with “Toys 4 Texas.” We engaged with our local Staten Island community to gather toys for families with young children impacted by the hurricane. Our goal was to bring some holiday joy to these families amidst the destruction and hardships they faced.

Hurricane Florence Relief

The Genesis USA’s Storm Relief Response Unit was sent to North Carolina and South Carolina to support charities and organizations owned by veterans in assisting those affected by Hurricane Florence. North and South Carolina experienced unprecedented levels of rainfall, leading to extensive damage to tens of thousands of homes. The retired firefighters from the FDNY who make up the Storm Relief Response Unit worked on cleaning, gutting damaged homes, and clearing trees and debris from the affected areas.

9/11 Reflections

I had the opportunity to speak with survivors and individuals who experienced the events of that fateful day firsthand. Their firsthand accounts are unforgettable. The stories shared by heroic first responders, military members, government officials, and survivors about their experiences on 9/11 and its aftermath are deeply moving. These emotional journeys serve as a reminder of our nation’s commitment to never forget this difficult period in American history.
